Sports and games whether team based or individual are an essential aspect of a student’s life that can build self esteem and confidence. It can motivate children and teach them the benefits of goal setting and practice.
True sportsmanship is not to win trophies, but to have fought well. The sports extravaganza of B.V.M. Udham Singh Nagar ‘Annual Sports Meet 2019’ commenced with a floral and traditional welcome of the Chief Guest Sh. Surinder Mohan (ACP Crime Branch Ludhiana) and his daughter Miss Mrinal amidst the euphonic beats of the school band. The vibrant event commenced with kindling of the ceremonial lamp at the pious feet of goddess Saraswati by the Chief Guest and all the dignitaries of the BVM Trust Sh. M.M. Bamba Ji, Sh. K.C. Maini Ji, Sh. P.C. Goyal Ji, Sh. Manoj Gupta Ji, Sh. M.M. Vyas Ji, Sh. O.P. Sabharwal Ji who were greeted with a mesmerising musical welcome by the school choir. Principal Mrs. Bandana Sethi accorded a cordial welcome to the Chief Guest of the day, all the dignitaries of BVM Trust and the august gathering. Delving upon the importance of sports, she said sports do not build character they reveal it, appreciating the valuable guidance of the BVM Trust and unconditional support of the parents for making such events a great success. She also acquainted the audience with a brief report on the splendid achievements of Bhartiyans at State, National and International levels, in sports. She said the prime focus of BVM is the development of all quotients intelligence, emotional, social, happiness and health quotient. The campus echoed with thunderous applause as the Chief Guest, hoisted the sports flag and Amrit Sharma, Milanpreet Singh (International Handball players) and Ansh (National Chess player) lighted the sacred torch and the Chief Guest declared the Sports Meet 2019 OPEN, releasing the tricolour balloons carrying the glorious name of BVM to the lofty heights. Soon after, promising Parineeti (Class Ist) administered the pledge to all athletes to participate with integrity, respecting and abiding by all the rules in the event. It was entailed by spectacular, prismatic and well synchronised March past and Mass PT by the tiny-tots of Shishu Vatika. The zealous parents gathered in a large number, constantly applauded the enthusiastic athletes. The most embellishing feet tapping performance of Bhartiyans projecting traditional games through their performance ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ captured every heart (mass participation of the kindergarteners splattered the campus with a riot of hues and vibrancy) Another mesmerising performance which left the audience completely awestruck was the peppy prop drill with pom pom, hockey sticks, bats and rainbow ribbons. Thrill and excitement were at the peak as high spirited buttercups sprinted to beat their competitors.
A variety of races like Hurdle race, pyramid race, card board stepping race, hoop and ball race, ball balancing race, dragging the ball race. Inter house badminton and handball matches, filled the air with zeal, cheering and tons of encouragement from the parents for the budding sports stars. Subtle Yog & Martial Artists with their supple moves and postures stole every heart. The friendly matches of Badminton and Handball organised for parents were also full of energy. The contest ‘My Mom Wonder Chef’ was the main attraction for mothers. Mrs. Indu, Mrs. Pooja & Mrs. Jaspreet Kaur won the first, second & third prize respectively. The Chief Guest lauded the sports day event and stated that he could gauge the efforts and pains endured by the Principal, teachers and students for such a flawless event. He advised the parents to encourage their children to move outdoors instead of keeping them comfortably inside the house to enable them tackle the obstacles in life. He also emphasised that youth should stay away from alcohol, smoking and drugs. The open air bhangra performance was enjoyed to the fullest by the parents. The chief guest was honoured with a token of gratitude by the worthy members of BVM Trust for sparing his valuable moments from the busy schedule. The winners of the various events were felicitated with gold, silver and bronze medals and certificates. Parents were all praise for this magnanimous sports event organised by the school management & the faculty. The Athletics Meet 2019 culminated with the vote of thanks presented by Mrs. Bandana Sethi, followed by flag lowering & flag folding ceremony by Sh. Baljeet Singh Gill (HOD Physical Education Department). The energy packed event came to a close with formal declaration of the MEET CLOSED (by the Principal) and Vande Matram.
